Academic Warning for Undergraduates

Students will be placed on academic warning if their semester or cumulative grade point average drops more than one point below a C (2.0) average. Students are automatically taken off academic warning when the overall (cumulative) grade point average reaches the required level (2.0).

Dismissal

The Division of Continuing Education cannot enroll students who have been dismissed from K-State.

Undergraduate students are dismissed if (1) they have been on academic warning the previous semester, (2) they have accumulated a total of 30 or more semester hours, and (3) their K-State grade point averages are at the following levels:

Total hours — K-State cumulative GPA less than
  • 30 - 45 — 1.75
  • 46 - 60 — 1.80
  • 61 - 75 — 1.85
  • 76 - 90 — 1.90
  • 91 - 105 — 1.95
  • greater than 105 — 2.00

Students will not be dismissed if their K-State semester GPA is at least 2.200 on 12 or more grade hours (or the minimum grade point average established by the student's college, if higher).

Reinstatement

A dismissed undergraduate student will be readmitted only when approved for reinstatement by the academic standards committee of the college the student is attempting to enter. Normally students must wait at least one semester before they will be considered for reinstatement.

The application for reinstatement must be directed to the academic standards committee of the specific college of the university in which the student wishes to enroll.

Students who earn a semester grade point average of 2.2 or more on 12 or more graded hours, or the minimum grade point average established by the student's college if higher, during the semester in question will not be dismissed.
