Overview
Elementary Education Bachelor's Degree with an area of concentration in English as a Second Language. This program is offered by Kansas State University in conjunction with Dodge City Community College, Garden City Community College and Seward County Community College.
Complete your first two years of study from one of the three community colleges and then complete your last two years of a Bachelor's Degree from K-State through distance education and courses offered in Southwest Kansas.
The bachelor's degree in Elementary Education is designed to provide a deep understanding of content, teaching methods, and student learning appropriate for teaching grades K-6. The area of concentration in ESL provides a solid understanding of issues surrounding culturally and linguistically diverse students in the areas of methodology for teaching second language learners, assessment, linguistics, and cross-cultural competence. The curriculum is designed for preparing future teachers to meet the needs of culturally and linguistically diverse students.
