Davis is a professor in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication
at Arizona State University who is currently researching and writing a book on the "Greenwood Massacre"
that took place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the 1920s. Greenwood was a peaceful African American neighborhood,
middle class and self-sufficient. The 35 city block neighborhood was brutally destroyed and its citizens lynched
and murdered by white mobs in one of the deadliest race riots in American history. Among those murdered was Dr. Davis's
grandfather. Hidden from the public for many years it is just now being fully researched.
