Father Roy Bourgeois

Roy Bourgeois was a naval officer for years and received the Purple Heart. After military service, he entered the seminary of
Maryknoll Missionary Order and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1972. Father Bourgeois worked with the poor in Bolivia
and Latin America for 5 years where he became an outspoken critic of U.S. policy. In 1990 he founded the School of the
Americas Watch. This research office researches and informs the public on the use of taxpayer dollars to train Latin American
soldiers and the implications of this training.
