Fees

The cost of the seminar is $200. The registration fees include all course materials and handouts. Optional academic credit and continuing education certificates are available.

Optional Academic Credit

This seminar offers an optional 1 hour of graduate or undergraduate credit through the Kansas State University College of Engineering. The course is CHE 670, reference # 94149. The instructor for the course will be Larry Erickson, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Director of the Center for Hazardous Substance Research. The cost for credit is as follows:

Undergraduate Resident: $231.50
Graduate Resident: $298.50

Undergraduate Non-Resident: $556
Graduate Non-Resident: $629.50

Those who wish to earn an hour of academic credit will need to prepare a paper on a topic of their choice related to the general topic of the course. A written manuscript and an oral presentation are required to communicate the results of the study. For those who are local, a meeting on the class in early February will be scheduled to hear the oral presentations and receive written reports. Non-local students will submit a videotape of their presentation.

Students will develop a top 10 list to address sustainable development as follows: what top 10 actions should be taken to advance sustainable development? Additionally, identify who should take each action (that is, individuals, organizations, companies, governments, United Nations, etc.). This exercise will be completed during the seminar days.

If you wish to take the seminar for credit, mark the appropriate blank on your registration form. Enrollment will begin on October 24, 2007.

Continuing Education Credits

Participants may receive an optional Certificate of Participation reporting twenty (20) contact hours, which will provide documentation for engineering Professional Development Hours (PDHs) or Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The cost for this certificate is $10 with your registration payment if you wish to receive this optional PDH/CEU certificate. If you are not in attendance for the entire seminar, your hours will be adjusted. Certificates will be given at the end of the seminar. You must be present to receive your certificate, as it will not be mailed.
